| | | The Pier Hotel is a historic building, having been split into three pieces and moved to it's current site at the turn of the century. Our hotel accommodation in Kaikoura has had many owners and just as many managers over the years, some even descendents of the original owners. It is currently owned by Steve Kirkpatrick.
The uniqueness of the Kaikoura hotel is, apart from the breathtaking views of the Kaikoura Ranges, that it still retains its aged appearance and charm even though it has had small face lifts over the years. The bar in our Kaikoura hotel is cosy and has a fireplace and window seat views. The main restaurant has a warm ambience to it and very friendly feel. The menus change through the seasons to enable our diners, both local and passing through, to enjoy the very best of local produce and chef's latest creations.
In the Winter months whilst the accommodation falls off, the dining remains constant and we are happy to do package deals for the travellers who may wish to stay a few days longer. We also cater to workmen who may need to stay in Kaikoura for work purposes, for example, we can do cut lunches and set menu over a period of time to suit.
Local fishing boats speckle the bay and on fine mornings many boats can be seen zipping about trying their luck with fishing and cray pots. Groups of friendly dolphins can often be seen frolicking in the bay.
All that Kaikoura has to offer in activities can be done from here via phone and our courtesy coach is kept busy running guests and diners back and forth to their various destinations. |
